RAND welcomed University of Pennsylvania professors Philip Tetlock and Barbara Mellers to the Santa Monica headquarters campus in May to meet with students and staff and deliver the endowed Haskins Lecture on Science Policy. They explained the science behind predicting future events and talked about how we can better forecast the future.

The lecture, which launched at RAND in 1995, is made possible through the generosity of philanthropists Caryl P. and Edna Haskins, RAND supporters who were dedicated to improving the understanding of the relationship between scientific progress and sound public policy.
